There are no needles, no radiation, and no uncomfortable prep required. It is very similar to your routine pregnancy ultrasounds.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

1. Arrival and Records Review

When you arrive, please check in and provide your referral letter, maternity card, and any previous ultrasound or blood test reports. Keeping these records handy helps us understand the context of your referral.

2. Initial Clinical Discussion

Before the scan begins, Dr. Agarwal will discuss the reason for your referral and talk you through what he will be looking for. Feel free to raise any questions or concerns you have at this stage.

3. The Ultrasound Scan

You will lie comfortably on an examination couch. Warm gel will be applied to your abdomen, and a handheld transducer (probe) will be gently moved over the skin. The real-time image of your baby's heart will be visible on the screen, and you will be able to see the chambers beating and blood flowing.

4. Scan Duration (30 to 45 Minutes)

The scan usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes. Fetal heart structures are small, and getting detailed angles requires patience. Sometimes it takes a little longer if the baby is in a challenging position, or if we are waiting for the baby to turn.

5. Discussion of Findings & Reports

You will receive a clear explanation of the scan's findings before you leave. Dr. Agarwal will walk through the results in plain, non-medical language. A formal written report will be prepared for you to share with your referring obstetrician.
